HJ Indicator Valve

Background

It is essential to know the pressure conditions in a cylinder in order to analyse the condition and effect of an engine. The HJ Indicator valve is designed with a view to surveying the pressure condition in a cylinder while the engine is running.

Functionality

The HJ Indicator valve is installed on the side of the diesel engine’s cylinder head and has a bore connecting the combustion chamber with the HJ Indicator Valve.

When a cylinder is to be tested, a device with a pressure gauge is mounted on the outer union on the HJ Indicator valve and the valve is opened.
The pressure gauge can be connected to a measuring instrument or a computer, in order to read the data on the cylinder’s condition and effect.

Purpose

It is essential to know the pressure conditions in a cylinder in order to analyse the condition and effect of an engine.

The HJ Indicator valve is designed with a view to surveying the pressure condition in a cylinder while the engine is running.

Construction

The HJ Indicator valve is installed on the side of the diesel engine’s cylinder head and as an outer union which is turned upwards.

The HJ Indicator valve is opened and closed by turning the handle.

When the handle is turned counter-clockwise, the valve ball inside is lifted from its valve seat, which thereby opens the connection between the diesel engine’s combustion chamber and the outer union.

The HJ Indicator valve is closed by turning the handle clockwise.
When a cylinder is to be tested, a device with a pressure gauge is mounted in the outer union of the indicator valve and the valve is opened.

The pressure gauge can be connected to a computer and give information on the cylinder’s condition and effect.
All valves are pressure tested at a pressure of 210 bar before delivery.

Flexibility

The connection to the cylinder head and the type of union can, within certain limits, be designed according to the customer’s request.
